It's Christmas

Today proved to be a busy day but it was well worth all of the running around. I started my day about 30 minutes late. Whoops, dang alarm.
First I had a crazy clerk at the gas station try to get me to give him my credit card. He told me that the computer said it was stolen and that he had to confiscate it. Thank goodness I swiped the card myself and therefore was able to tell the guy that he was crazy and keep my credit card. My mom is convinced that he was trying to trick me into giving up the card. Do I look gullible?
Either way I'm going to go to the bank tomorrow to have them look into this.
Well, after the excitement of the morning I went to my mom's for breakfast and the movie Silverado. Not a Christmas movie I realize but still an old favorite of mine! I love westerns!
After breakfast at mom's house I headed down to the Chop House for Miracle on 19th. We had a great time making a small difference in the lives of people that are less fortunate and it was fun to see some old opening friends.
After Miracle I went to Nicole's mom's for dessert! YUM! That's all I have to say. Well, that and I may not have to eat again for a few days. Oooh and we got to watch a couple of episodes of True Blood. Love the accents, makes me feel like I'm back in Texas.
Now here I sit in bed watching the snow fall and starting to get a little dozy. I think the rum in the egg nog is kicking in. ;)
Merry Christmas!

Follow up

I asked a couple of the other reps at work today and apparently my encounters with people that share random and sometimes inappropriate comments are not an unusual occurrence. Well, at least I know it's not just me. :)

That's Awkward...

As a second job I do promotions for a local rum company. I generally enjoy this. It's a fun job and you get to chat with lots of different people. Every now and then, however, you chat up some perfect stranger and they start to tell you their life story. This wouldn't be so bad if some of these people didn't pull the "overshare".
You are all familiar with this and some of you are guilty of it and some just subjected to it. I've been a party to both. YIKES.
To some degree this helps me in overlooking the incident but occasionally you encounter someone who is apparently unaware of the inappropriateness of the statements they are making. I'm no expert but I would think it unnecessary to discuss the personal habits of your wife or husband with a perfect stranger. I don't know if I make people uncomfortable when I approach them with a $2 off coupon for a bottle of rum or if they generally just say whatever they happen to be thinking. Am I that imposing? Do I need to rethink my sales strategy?
I'm going to test out a theory. I am usually not the only company rep in these stores and tomorrow, if given the opportunity, I'm going to ask the other reps if this is something they encounter as well. If it is then I going to chalk these incidents up to the level of stress people carry around the holidays. If not, maybe its me...

End of the Semester

One final left to go and I'm done! I get 4 weeks off! I need this time to catch my breath. Going full speed for too long now has drained my energy completely. I used to do this. I used to work harder than this and go to school and I was fine.

The conclusion I've come to is that I am getting old.
This isn't a bad thing though. I'm embracing it. I remember when I was younger and my mom would tell me that she loved her gray hairs. I aspire to be the same way.

I am a 29 year old sophomore at Metro State. Many of my classmates are 10 years younger than I am. This makes for an endlessly entertaining learning environment. I just cant believe that the excuses we used to use still work. You'd think that with all the advances in technology, they'd get better excuses.

If there is one thing I've learned in my on and off time as a student its that I am the only one that is going to keep my education on track. So many people here at school assume that they should be given an A in a class just for showing up. Yikes... I shudder to think of what will happen when some of these people realize that they have squandered their possibilities. Okay, I'm preaching now and I'll stop because I realize that everyone is different and my priorities are not the same as everyone else's.
I'm just saying that beer and homework can both be priorities if you work at them.

Well, that was sort of off topic, darn my stream of consciousness. Anyway only one final left and then I can work on some of my other priorities. Like family, friends, the holidays, church and beer!
