I have never put in this kind of effort toward school. When I was in high school or my early years of college I was rather unmotivated. I didn't know what I wanted to do with my "career" so I just let everything slide. I just wanted to be able to enjoy friends and family and not be completely broke.
I finally got an idea what to do and where to go and so I am busting my butt. I want to graduate in 2011 (only 13 years after my high school graduation) and get going with what the future will bring. I am an Events Management major at Metro State and while a calculated and concise path is not laid out in front of me, I hold great hopes for the future.
At this point I have only marginal experience in events management (I've planned a couple of weddings, done a bit of catering out of my dismally small kitchen, and worked on the nuts and bolts of some smaller private parties) but I hope to build on this through my connections at school.
Somedays I wish that this inspiration had struck me 5 years ago but, alas, you must live life as it comes. I continue to learn valuable lessons everyday and hope that the challenges I face will make me stronger!
Now my goal is to record these experiences. Not that I'm too concerned that the outside world is interested but rather that someday I may want a record of these times.
